A Little Truth About January
Hey,
It’s not always easy to admit failures. It’s even harder to veer off the road you’ve committed to and face the consequences.
First, no worries—nothing bad has happened. I just wanted to share something personal hoping you’ll find value in it.
You see, I tend to slip in January. I don’t know why.
Maybe it’s the energy of all the “New Year, New Me” resolutions around me. Maybe I feel the weight of all the promises people make, knowing many won’t stick.
But I don’t blame them. These people want to get better, and that’s a good thing. They just don’t know they will fail eventually.
I’ve stumbled, too. I stumble now.
What I realized is that when we slip—when we miss a habit, skip a commitment, or let ourselves off the hook—it often feels like nothing happens.
My dentist once told me:
If you don’t brush your teeth tonight, nothing will happen. Tomorrow? Still nothing. A couple of weeks later? Likely the same. But 20 years from now? That one night might have caused a cavity or worse.
This January, I failed to wake up early, a habit I hold close. I checked in with myself: What’s the harm? And truthfully, nothing happened. Nothing at all.
Then I remembered what my dentist said. And that was enough for me to get back on track.
This email isn’t about teeth or waking up early.
It’s about remembering that the small choices we make now don’t always show their impact immediately—but over time, they shape everything.
If you’ve stumbled, it’s okay. I have, too. What matters is that we get up again. Because even the smallest habit, done consistently, is powerful over time.
Here’s to brushing our teeth and waking up early—even when it feels like nothing’s at stake.
With you on this journey,
Arnolds
